OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FROM SATURDAY 1st MAY 2010

Welcome - thank you for visiting my website. This site is constantly being updated, so please return soon and read more - in the meantime please feel free to browse my pages for information that is already there.

My name is Kath and I am an Artist, Writer, Holistic Therapist

and Organic Cook.  I am also a registered Volunteer for the National Trust.

"The Outer Show is very different to the Inner Journey"

I have had to put my Art on hold for the moment, as I'm currently running a small catering outlet within Seaton Delaval Hall - "The Starlight Tearoom" - selling my home-made cakes, scones etc., along with organic tea, coffee and soft drinks.

"THE STARLIGHT TEAROOM"

I will be focusing on my Artwork again from September 2010 onwards, and will be investigating the feasibility of starting a self-help group using art as a healing modality. My artwork has proved to be extremely therapeutic and cathartic for me - in fact by expressing myself through art I have found a kind of "healing" taking place. When I don't paint, I feel myself slipping back into poor health (more emotional/psychological than physical).

If you are interested in becoming part of my group - either through online communication or, if you live in the North East of England, getting together with me and other like-minded people to start a Healing Art Group, then please go to my Contact Me page on this website and send me an email - we'll take it from there! No need to be experienced or in any way "arty", you may not ever have even held a paintbrush before, but if you feel that you would like to give it a go, then get in touch.

The name of my group will be

"Kath-Art-Ic: Articulate yourself and Heal Through Art"

I'd love you to join me!

PURPOSE

This website is dedicated to the memory of my son, Andrew, who came joyfully into this world on 2nd October 1973 and left us behind tragically on 1st September 2004, aged just 30 years.

He was, and is, the inspiration for much of what is contained here - he was an accomplished and gifted artist and graphic designer, and always encouraged me to start painting again after not doing so for a long time, although I didn't start painting with any confidence until just recently when further encouraged by my sister, Gill.  I know he would be happy about this.  See My Artwork page.

He always loved good food and home cooking, but became passionate about the health benefits of organic food during his fight against osteosarcoma (a rare kind of bone cancer), and always encouraged me to fulfill my dream of making cooking my profession.  However I have recently had to stop my buffet catering and now only offer individual home-baked items as well as cooking for my family.  Please see Organic Home-Baked Items and Organic Recipes pages.

During his illness he became a staunch advocate of complementary therapies and healing modalities, which although did not ultimately save him, certainly helped to lengthen, and improve his quality of, life.  I know he would approve of the way I try to help others through my therapies, as he used to say that if he survived he would spend the rest of his life helping others.  See Holistic Therapies page.

It has been a roller-coaster ride over the last few years, and I have explored many "spiritual" paths, including Spiritualism, Spiritual Healing, Clairvoyance, Channelling, Automatic Writing and so on, and written many articles and essays about my experiences, and am in the process of writing a book that hopefully will help others who have gone, or are going, through a similar ordeal.

My belief systems have been stretched to the limit and I have experienced an uplifting stage as well as a "dark night of the soul".  Where I am right now on my spiritual path is anybody's guess, but I will keep on trying to make sense of it all.  See My Articles & Essays page.

Although I have firm roots in Christianity, I now prefer to describe myself as "Holistic" - embracing all faiths as one - however having explored many other faiths, including Buddhism and the Baha'i faith, I now find that I'm "coming home" to my roots and once more feeling that, in fact, Christianity is where my heart lies. Full circle in fact.

All of the above inspired me to give up my stressful management job and take early retirement in 2006, and concentrate on another way of life that was closer to my heart - that of helping others in a meaningful way.  I hope to promote wellbeing in others in whatever way I can, which ultimately will bring benefit to me also.
